Msgr. Philippe Jean Pierre
Msgr. Jean Pierre was ordained to the priesthood on May 21, 1988, as the first Haitian priest for the Archdiocese of Miami.  Until his retirement in 2022, he pastored to four parishes as an Associate Pastor for 9 years and Pastor for 25 years.
 
He departed Haiti in 1979 to study English at the American Language and Culture Institute in New York City and the following year, he studied Theology at the Toronto  School of Theology at the University of Toronto, receiving his Master of Divinity. He spent one year in Guadalajara, Mexico to learn Spanish.
 
He has remained an avid advocate for his beloved Haiti.  His efforts to raise awareness and much needed funds for the victims of the 2010 earthquake was “part of the archdiocese’s response to the victims...in solidarity with the bishops of Port-au-Prince.”  
While in parish ministry he earned his master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from St. Thomas University.  He has held the positions of Director for the Propagation of the Faith, Director of Ethnic Ministry and has been a member of the Presbyteral Council, the Archdiocesan Personnel Board and Archdiocesan Finance Council.

Msgr. Jean Pierre fue ordenado sacerdote el 21 de mayo de 1988, como el primer haitiano sacerdote de la Arquidiócesis de Miami. Hasta su jubilación en 2022, pastoreó cuatro parroquias como pastor asociado durante 9 años y pastor durante 25 años.
Partió de Haití en 1979 para estudiar inglés en la American Lenguaje and Culture Institute en la ciudad de Nueva York y al año siguiente, estudió Teología en la Universidad de Toronto. Escuela de Teología de la Universidad de Toronto, recibiendo su Maestría en Divinidad. Él pasó un año en Guadalajara, México para aprender español.
Se ha mantenido como un ávido defensor de su amado Haití. Sus esfuerzos para crear conciencia y fondos muy necesarios para las víctimas del terremoto de 2010 fue “parte de la respuesta de la arquidiócesis a las víctimas... en solidaridad con los obispos de Port-au-Prince.Mientras estaba en el ministerio parroquial, obtuvo su maestría en Consejería de Salud Mental de la Universidad de Santo Tomás. Ha ocupado los cargos de Director de Propagación de la Fe, Directora del Ministerio Étnico y ha sido miembro del Consejo Presbiteral, la Junta de Personal de la Arquidiócesis y el Consejo de Finanzas de la Arquidiócesis.
